About Robert Thomas

I was born into a relatively musical family (my father was a church organist and all my siblings took music lessons) in a small logging community in western Washington state. As a child, I often "improvised" on the family piano. My parents took the hint, and gave me piano lessons for my eighth birthday present. I studied piano through elementary and high school, winning several awards including twice representing the local chapter of the Music Teachers National Association at state conventions. I continued taking lessons into college, and graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition. I continued music studies in Boston; aſter earning a Master of Music degree in Composition from Boston University, I moved to New Jersey to complete my education and have never leſt.
